The Isarco Valley holiday region is particularly well suited to families. The Valley of Trails offers not only a diverse network of walking trails but also a variety of options for active recreation in the great outdoors: these range from WoodyWalk on Mount Plose above Brixen and the modern playgrounds in verdant Luson/Lüsen to MountainAdventureWorld in the valley of silver mines in Racines. In the Isarco Valley, children can really let loose – whether at the high-ropes course in Funes/Villnöss or on a mountain cart at either Mount Plose or Ladurno/Ladurns.
Playgrounds in Luson and WoodyWalk on Monte Plose
The green hiking paradise known as Luson in Italian and Lüson in German, located near Brixen, is truly
specialized in the needs of families with children. In addition to the village playground and the Pardell natural playground, there is a lovely play area at Hinterlüsen, directly on the Lasanken Stream, as well as many small playgrounds at many of the alpine pasture huts: here, fun and excitement are guaranteed.
WoodyWalk on Mount Plose above Brixen is manageable even with a stroller, making it an ideal destination for the whole family. Along the trail you’ll find attractions such as Bell Pond, the Wooden Phone and a climbing tree.
MountainAdventureWorld in Ratschings
In the former silver mining area known as Ratschings-Jaufen, you’ll find
MountainAdventureWorld, an adventure trail with many fascinating attractions. The MountainAdventureWorld tour starts at the mountain station and is also suitable for strollers.
The high-ropes course at Funes and Skytrek in Vipiteno
Nine courses at various heights and levels of difficulty – including suspension bridges, balance beams, cable cars and a 14-meter-high climbing tower – make the
high-ropes course at Funes an adrenalin-packed experience for the whole family. Meanwhile in the Nordpark area of Vipiteno, directly at the valley station of the Rosskopf cable car, you’ll find the
SKYTREK high-ropes and adventure park. With two beginner’s routes, a route for children, a zip-line and five other routes of varying difficulty, SKYTREK promises the thrill of pushing oneself to the limit and plenty of adventure amidst the treetops.
Mountain Carts on Mount Plose and in Ladurno
RudiRun on Mount Plose is a sledding trail in winter and a mountain-cart course in summer. It offers a full
10 kilometers of high-speed adventure, starting at the mountain station of the Plose cable car and running all the way down to the valley station. It’s guaranteed fun for people of all ages at a recreational area above Brixen. There are also
new mountain carts in Ladurno/Ladurns near Colle Isarco/Gossensass. These speedy tricycles are a much-loved attraction for kids and adults alike in the varied Wipptal Ski Area.
Mountain Disc Golf Course on Mount Rosskopf
Fun, sports and action in harmony with nature: The new
mountain disc golf course on Mount Rosskopf, the highest-elevation 18-hole course in Europe, combines the concept of playing golf using a ball with the ease of a Frisbee game. Disc golf is fun for all ages and skill levels, and so is particularly attractive for families who enjoy outdoor recreation.
Brennero/Brenner Bike Route
The
Brennero/Brenner–Bolzano/Bozen Bike Route, which is well marked and runs about 100 km in length, offers hilly landscapes and shady woods. The path runs along the route of the former Brenner Railway line, in light descent, all the way to Vipiteno. The signposted bike path passes through picturesque villages and little hamlets to Franzensfeste Fortress, continues via Lake Varna and then runs along the Chestnut Trail towards Abbazia di Novacella, so rich in traditions, and from the monastery to Brixen.
