Experience pure Ski World Cup flair at its best: in mid-December, the world's elite will compete in the downhill and super-G disciplines on the spectacular Saslong slope. The athletes reach speeds of up to 130 km/h and jump over 80 metres. Shortly before Christmas, the Men's Giant Slalom will take place on the Gran Risa ski run in Alta Badia, one of the World Cup’s most challenging slopes. Another highlight then follows at the end of January at Kronplatz, where the Women's Giant Slalom World Cup will be held on the Erta slope. With the Dolomiti Superski Pass, witness the races and see all the action at three adrenaline-packed World Cup slopes.

Fun on the slopes thanks to guaranteed snowy conditions

Nothing is left to chance on South Tyrol's slopes. State-of-the-art technology ensures well-groomed and safe slopes at all ski areas, even if just a few flakes actually fall from the sky. This means that fun on the slopes is guaranteed!

Though colloquially referred to as “artificial,” this snow is, however, completely natural. Natural water is propelled into the air under high pressure in the form of small atomised droplets that then fall onto the slopes as snow crystals as a result of the low temperatures - just like natural snow. The snow guns themselves are extremely high-tech and produce large amounts of snow with very little energy input. 

If required, around 90% of all slopes in South Tyrol can be covered with artificial snow. Care is taken to ensure that resources are used sparingly. The water that is used contains no chemicals, is of drinking water quality and is returned to the natural water cycle in the spring.

Rules of winter sports safety

The "Traffic Laws" of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation FIS

Skiers and snowboarders under 18 years of age are required to wear a helmet.

To gain access to ski areas, you need to get the liability insurance (RC) to be protected against unwilling damage . Although most common policies cover winter sports, always make sure with your insurance company what are the benefits and coverage of yours.

For instance, the insurance "Snowcare" can be purchased for 3€ per day and is the most known ski and snowboard insurance in Europe. Check this website for more information.

Check your speed, signage, ride appropriately and choose the level of difficulty based on youyr skiing ability.

If you want to overtake, make sure there is enough room.

Don't underestimate the run traffic and the snow conditions during your time on the slopes.

If you fall, don't obstruct the way and stay where you are visible from above.

In case you are injured and cannot stand up, other skiers have the duty to provide assistance.

Remain at the scene and identify yourself, if you caused the accident or are a witness.

If you can't finish the run on skies or snowboard, you can walk down only by sticking to the side of the route.

Drunk skiing is as dangerous as drink driving and it is therefore forbidden by the law. The maximum consumpion permitted is 0,5% grams of alcohol in every 100ml of blood.
