In addition to the lived customs and traditions, there is a lot of room for new ideas. Events like the Tanz Bozen dance festival , the Südtirol Jazz Festival Alto Adige and the international Ferruccio Busoni Piano Competition are among the cultural highlights throughout the year.

Open-air plays have a long tradition here thanks to the mild temperatures: folk theatre performances can be seen on balmy summer evenings at the Ritten Sommerspiele.
