For more than a millennium, the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal Valley has developed its own art and culture. From the first evidence of the religious architecture of the Romanesque period, up to the modern constructions of the 20th century, this very small region can boast of having an exceptionally large number of artistic treasures, from pre-Romanesque frescoes to Gothic cloisters, from fantastic Baroque churches to the small yet beautiful mountain churches, from the incredible residences of former nobles to the remnants of the first years of the industrial age.
Works of art From Vandoies/Vintl to Aica/Aicha, from Brennero/Brenner to Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck, and especially in the old centres and panoramic locations, there is a plethora of major and minor works by famous painters, sculptors and builders, but also some simple jewels of local popular art. The varied collections displayed in small but important museums will provide an interesting overview of these little treasures. |
